About Lulwah Al Homoud
b. 1967 Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Lulwah Al Homoud lives and works between United Arab Emirates and London, UK.
Al Homoud studied sociology at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and received a Masters degree from Central Saint Martins, London, UK. She also trained under distinguished Pakistani calligrapher Rasheed Butt and was inspired by Egypt’s Ahmed Moustafa to learn the theoretical system of calligraphy.
Al Homoud has had solo shows at Tabari Artspace, Dubai, UAE (2013), the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, UAE (2015) and Hafez Gallery, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (2016) and contributed work to many international group exhibitions, including at Sundaram Tagore Galleries in New York and Hong Kong (2011, 2012); AB Gallery, Lucerne, Switzerland (2014); Barjeel Art Foundation, Sharjah (2014) and Al Markhiya Gallery, Doha, Qatar (2017) as well as in France, Germany, Lebanon and Korea. She co-curated the exhibition Edge of Arabia, Brunei Gallery, London, UK (2008)
