This installation was created in response to the personal quest and sometimes difficult path taken by African migrants to get to Europe. I was interested in the people who collect plastic bottles in the street and sell them to earn a living.
I met one of them, Mourad, a young Senegalese man who collects bottles every day to pay for passage to Italy...I decided to talk about this by taking over these containers and switching from plastic to blown glass. Putting heavy metal birds on them, because birds don't need passports. "Tenté par d'autres soleils" (Tempted by other suns) is a soufflé of life going towards other worlds... a quest for elsewhere.
