Literature

Béchir Boussandel’s painting brings together ornamentation, luminous diffusion, and the detail of miniature portraiture to create compositions that shimmer with a surreal, dreamlike quality. Set against psychedelic backdrops, his works juxtapose the small and precise with the vast and indeterminate, evoking a tension between intimacy and the immensity of space. Within his pseudo-topographical landscapes, Boussandel explores space between territory and its human inhabitants—those who navigate, cultivate, and extract from it. He invites the viewer to question how territories are defined and the roles we play within them.
