Pippa El-Kadhi Brown’s practice centres on painting as a space for psychological and sensory exploration. Working primarily in oil on canvas, she builds dense, immersive compositions through layered colour, fluid forms and shifting spatial cues. Her paintings draw on a wide range of visual references, including animation, illuminated manuscripts, fantasy imagery and early digital culture, which are absorbed and reconfigured into richly textured pictorial systems.
At the core of her practice is an interest in how internal states intersect with imagined landscapes. El-Kadhi Brown treats colour as an organising force, using it to structure scenes that float between the bodily and the fantastical, the intimate and the unfamiliar. Her compositions often resist clear orientation, creating charged environments that feel suspended and mutable.
