Literature

In The sound of a mountain as an ocean, Rema Ghuloum conjures the impossible: a symphony of color where earth and water collapse into one. Deep purples surge against hot pinks and burning oranges, layered like sediment or tide, like time itself made visible. The painting pulses with an almost sonic intensity, its surface a palimpsest of veiled passages that shift between transparency and saturation.

Ghuloum's poetic title invites paradox: the solidity of stone becomes fluid, the voice of water becomes weight. Through countless layers of oil and acrylic gouache, she creates a chromatic landscape that is both ancient and immediate, a meditation on transformation, on how one element can hold the memory of another. This is painting as metamorphosis, where color becomes feeling, and surface becomes depth without end
