    Literature

This painting is based on a drawing of the University of Al-Qarawiyyin in Fes, Morocco. built in 859 AD by a woman named Fatima Al-Fihri, it is known to be the oldest university in the world. The collage/sketch combines a range of images referencing a film still from Farha, Celia Sánchez (Cuban revolutionary), and women protest movements in occupied Kashmir.
