Presented as a diptych, Anther and Stigma takes its title from the reproductive structures of flowering plants, framing the painting's central enquiry in botanical and implicitly bodily terms. Across the two panels, warm rose and terracotta grounds carry loosely rendered forms upward through the composition, marks suggesting stems, figures and architectural fragments that resist clear identification. The left panel is denser and more rooted; the right opens toward light and dissolution. Together, they propose a cycle of generation and dispersal, the interior life of the natural world translated into paint with El-Kadhi Brown's characteristic fluency.
