This artwork evokes multiple readings. ‘Missionary’ evokes images of those on a mission particularly religious groups, keen to propagate their beliefs. Al Lamki has rendered the banal sublime, Here a cluster of SUVs behold the magnitude of the mountain and the mesmeric palette of the evening sky. Al Lamki was always struck by the individual character contained within each car that made its way up the mountain.
