Hana Almilli

B. 1996

Hana Almilli is a multimedia artist, textile designer, and poet based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She graduated from the California College of the Arts in 2019 with a focus on Textiles and Creative Writing. In 2022, she received a Master's in Arts and Culture Management from the Rome Business School in Italy.

Hana's research-based practice explores the idea of recreating affected and resurrected identities through the material culture of textiles and assemblages. Belonging to Turkish, Syrian, Kurdish, and Saudi lineage, she was persuaded by questions of identity.

Enquiring perpetual alienation, her ideology developed into discovering and representing the term Al Ghorba (estrangement in a foreign land). Consequently, Hana's visual structure interrogates nostalgia through weaving, dyeing, embroidering, and photography. In 2019, Hana conducted her first solo show, Sada Kharaet Ghorbati at Isabelle Percy West Gallery in Oakland, California. She self-published the collection of her poetry as a book, Al Ghorba.
