This work from the same series superimposing plexi glass on printed photographs shows the River Jordan, a holy site that connects Palestine and Jordan and flows from North to South through the Lake of Tiberias and the Dead Sea.
Hazem Harb connects the two bodies of water, the River Jordan and the Lake of Tiberias, by superimposing the two-dimensional images, acting like alfresco paintings at holy sites.
The blue pigmented plexi glass adds another three-dimensional layer that invites the viewer to focus on the division between the waters, one that flows strongly and another that has been reduced to a muddy stream. A blue bull’s eye, reminiscent of a porthole, connects the three panels together. Viewers are able to see their own reflection in the plexi glass, thus momentarily becoming part of the artwork.
